i wanted more from the families too but that never really happened. i wanted more experiences and interactions with their job, acquaintances, neighbors or SOMETHING. i wanted something other than these two characters. i just felt like this novel wasn’t for me. maybe im too immature to like or understand it but it was boring. even her prose at times didn’t seem exciting to me. i’m sorry i wanted to like it.

while i understand the premise of keeping them unlikable or unreliable characters it just didn’t work. at least for me, these characters were just really amusing, and were so insufferably dysfunctional. i found reagan annoying at times, while she has some interesting qualities most of her povs made me yawn. aldo was so pretentious it hurt.

so i had to read this for a school book club and i was not impressed. i even chose this book that makes it worse. anyways, it was hard to keep my attention on and the most interesting part of the book was the middle. before they got into a mess of a relationship was when i was hooked. their dynamic was not really enthralling either.
