Intifada in late 80s led to very harsh “iron fist” retaliation from Israel. Videos of Israel breaking protestors limbs led to backlash in public opinion

Oslo 2 agreement led to heavier restrictions on Palestinian freedom and autonomy. Two examples being checkpoints to enter and exit territories, roads that Palestinians are prohibited from using.

Secretly negotiated agreement between PLO and Israel led to PLO recognizing Israeli State and Israel acknowledging the existence of the Palestinian people. This is seen as a mistake on the PLO’s part because these terms are not balanced and recognizing your colonizer’s legitimacy is not very beneficial.

Going in to negotiations (unclear what year this is but not current) the US had promised Israel they would not agree to any proposal that Israel did not approve of. This promise was not known by all parties. Unclear to me whether this is still formally in place or

Israel led a horrifying attack in South Lebanon (in the 80s I think) and committed such atrocious and I describí ate bombing that the US told them they had to stop. And they kinda did. And also there were no consequences for the military decision makers involved, two of them went on to be PM of Israel, one of whom was Bibi himself. Moral of this Chapter: Israel has BEEN warned crime-ing with US backing for decades.

Lisie Expression of Palestinian resistance, including flying the Palestinian flag, led to violent punishment

Lisie Generations of Palestinians born knowing nothing but violent occupation from Israel. How can we not expect these individuals to feel negatively toward Israel?? How can we expect them not to resist? And yall might cancel me for this one, but Israel conflates itself so much with Jewishness, how can we not expect them to feel negatively towards Jewish people. When the state that violently murders, bombs, punishes, and eradicates screams that they are the homeland of, by, and for, Jewish people

Lisie This First Intifada was largely peaceful, utilizing tactics such as not paying taxes. Women were at the center of this resistance, organizing their community.
