I’m honestly a bit surprised that the author used the incorrect and antiquated term “sexual preference” in reference to a tabloid trying to bribe JFK Jr./his family over potential pictures of him at a gay bar w/ friends back when he was in college. I thought it was understood that one’s sexuality wasn’t a choice, but how they were born.

Slight nitpick: IDK who edited &/or proofread this book, but she had mentioned that John & Carolyn left NYC on vacation in 1997 to escape the 24th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, but it would have been the 34th anniversary. Not the biggest deal, but it stuck out.

Another bone to pick w/ this book: the author used “female” instead of “woman” a lot. I don’t mind “female” as a descriptor (ie “female doctor”), but it really bugs me when people use “female” alone instead of “woman.” For a book that wants to employ feminism (basically - & understandably) to defend Carolyn and tell the truth about her & her life, it’s a very odd choice, imo.

Well, Daryl Hannah can blame JFK Jr.’s friends & this book for her portrayal in the TV series based off of it instead of Ryan Murphy & co. The portrayal at Jackie’s funeral is almost the same as was presented in this book. & while I appreciate the author writing this book about a woman who was maligned by the press, she doesn’t need to tear another down in order to do it.

I am enjoying this book & I’m glad there is a book about Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy that isn’t bashing her. BUT this book is starting to annoy me w/ how often it reminds the reader of Carolyn’s effortless beauty. The book itself also has repeatedly noted that she wanted to be known for more than just her looks, so IDK why the author continues to harp on them.
