Ok the spike reveal as his solution is brilliant bc its been associated with abhorrent people all this time aaa i love it

honestly mb this series is going downhill bc it strayed too much from scifi inspi by crucifixion and a sort of origin of godhood story and went too much into mormonism im ngl like it's become too vague.... i want more concrete descriptions and stuff that's shown with suspense littering the pages instead of stuff here and there.. the shifting povs DO help with attention span tho vs the prev books and steris IS better

i think i just miss a lot of worldbuilding in this, not re: magic system, but re: exploring beyond elendel, bilming and the roughs like cmon. dropping planets as a thing and not going? this is why kelsier's short story felt cool i suppose... it feels too small as just a setup for ghostbloods to do more of the interplanetary travel or whatever.. but maybe it will still come even if for 1 scene idk. not even marasi 1/2

you know, i would love Autonomy to have been shown to be attracted to Earth because Harmony learned to foster it in his subjects, trying to not interfere too much and doubting his beginnings aka whether he spoiled them too much at the start... and thus desiring more Autonomy and letting individualism thrive more and more maybe. I know this is prob not gonna be the case and it's just going to be more of a gods' battle

I was warming to twinsoul and liking his powers and it felt like a good showcase of them with the golemesque transformation sequence BUT "Coriander Court".... really????? He has indian beta readers apparently but ?? Blah idk might just be me but that is just odd and had to make a note of it bc it bothered me -_- anyway as a side note, ghostbloods are seeming like they might be a better cast than wax wayne saga.

Like i kinda miss VenDell joining the party lol.. if sanderson insists on having it be an all serious chars + lq serious char wayne configuration. Gonna expect moonlight/kim to become more fun to read tho bc of the kelsier tie.

Kim is a bit dull as a cast addition while undercover so far but a Wayne pov clocking her helps. Wax's open distaste for anything to do with Jak makes me laugh. Marasi/wax power duo still feels forced.. although less so than previous books I guess. Wayne's humility insecurity and low self-esteem while being painted as highly competent feels like a specific real person done well and emphasised by waxrasi's mothering.

In the first trilogy the spikes felt not as much like hinting at Jesus' story but in this book especially with the widespread awful and unorganised-feeling use of it it really does lol. It is fine but took me out of story immersion a bit as the author's magic system inspiration for the spikes felt very on the nose then but again it is fine ofc since it existed since lit book 1 already

OK so far I have truly enjoyed myself?? This sequel series is not ending with being a bit of a forceful slenter through just to pick up pieces of world lore? Nothing has wowed me yet BUT just enjoying myself and not checking what is left every page is already just fun and a relief.
