In this bed, in this house, on this planet, he’d finally found the peace he’d always searched for. Maybe he didn’t deserve it. Maybe he’d always been and would always be a monster.
But with them, it didn’t matter.
Because they could be monstrous together.

“Mercy,” Aodhan whispered his name almost reverently, but he didn’t have the energy to look at him again.
Titus let his eyes slide shut. “Stay. Stay with us.”
“All right.”
Aodhan’s hand rested over his and their connection intensified.
With their pod complete, Titus drifted off into a more peaceful slumber.

Contentment would be a better word for it than happiness. For the first time in a long time, Titus felt completely centered.
