Happy foggy Sat morn! q update + coffee...maybe one of few I'll give on this read. 1 part interesting story, 2 parts hella racist! Again, what are we doing y'all? John Steinbeck is on every hs curriculum. Who approved this? & before the realism warriors come for me, I don't believe in white male writers crafting oppression fanfic & calling it a literary device. Spare me pls, it's a Cain & Abel retelling

I definitely had to read Grapes of Wrath in high school & I don't remember it being this bad/so many slurs. My guess is that my teachers picked the least racist of his novels to study. Regardless, I own this because I bought a copy a few years ago. I had Grapes of Wrath on my list to rebuy (idk where my fam's copy went)--and will not be now! & kinda mad I bought this one. If you would like to read his work, pls check it out from the library! the libraries need our support anyways 🥰

I have a feeling I will be moving very leisurely today--honestly I don't have any big stuff left! Just chores pre-you & fun things for us to do together :) I'm gonna go get coffee now okay byeee 💞 here are the few things I left for us to choose as a couple x:
- barstools (we only need 2)
- nightstand
- new cabinet/drawer hardware for the cherry wood entertainment center (where the living room TV is sitting)
Oh if you couldn't tell, for classics I like these paperback Penguin versions. Classics take a while to get through and often get a little beat up. hence paperbacks. & these paperbacks because they go together perfectly and I (& other readers) find the translations to be the strongest. also the pages smell good. they have the correct smell. don't ask me what that means it's a feeling lmao
