Biographies used to be mostly hero worship, painting men and women as nearly flawless, sinless creatures.

Then about 10 years ago it seemed to shift to “tell-all” tabloid-type works exposing the underlying weaknesses and conflicts of beloved heroes.

Now, it seems that many biographies have become more social commentaries, with bits of the subjects life and lots of analysis and worldview. This is that sort.

Samantha Agreed! The author writes beautifully in this one, but it does have a lot more commentary than I was expecting. Did you ever take any classes from Dr Trafton? This is his daughter!

Kathleen C I didn't, but I met him and his wife once through Brad's aunt and uncle. I wondered if there was a relationship when I saw the author's name!
