Really noticing some things on this second or third read: poverty, violence…Probably some of the reasons I find it so relatable despite the racial differences.
Also really touching, how much you can feel the love Lenu has for Lila before their relationship begins to descent into jealousy, insecurity what not. I’m also more forgiving of Lenu for her insecurities, really instead focusing on her neighborhood

Actually this is a very sad book. My favorite character who I once thought was mythical, godly you could say, is actually extremely powerless. Which, maybe is also why I was drawn to her.
