How do I keep forgetting that the beginning of Dracula is creepy as hell! Mainly because Jonathan is such an cheerful character.

I am glad I got the other book of Dracula, annotated by Leonard Wolf.

Without his footnotes I would never noticed some things. The dog for example and where he sat totally went over my head…

Ok, the misogyny is becoming a bit unbearable at this point. I don't get how we got from a Mina that went everywhere to Mrs. Harker who is apparently very fragile and can't handle anything.

Even she remarks on this! Ugh the infantilizing of her is annoying.

I like that everyone adores Mina but sjeez... You can very easily guess that this was written by a man. I refuse to believe that women just accepted and liked all of the trauma dumping men did on them.

Ahh now I get why people say this book is full of rampant misogyny. I think it starts with the transformation of Lucy. Madonna versus the Whore. Not very subtle...

Van Helsing is such a Drama Lama.

Again Mr. Stoker, the Dutch would say "Bong! Bong! Bong!"

Also Van Helsing is acting very crazy right now...
