Visualize: Some examples in the book where I could feel something thanks to the authors writing, the manager left the hotel so the Torrances were the only one in the whole hotel. I could feel the isolation they were feeling because imagine you were them and it was only you and the hotel with the nearest town over 20 miles away. I think the author did a really good job at explaining what the characters were feeling.

Archetypes: For the archetype of the shining i would think it is a tragedy. Even though I have not read the whole book the author is foreshadowing the Jack is going insane and might try to kill his family. An example of the foreshadowing he has been doing is Jack hallucinating his dead father telling him to kill his wife and son. I believe this is foreshadowing telling us that Jack will kill his family.

Inciting incident: The inciting incident of this book is either the interview Jack Torrance has to go through to get the job of watching the hotel, or when he gets the job. I think this because it happens at the very start where most inciting incidents happen and also this caused the main plot of the book, which is Jack and his family are all alone watching a hotel with nobody in 20-25 mile radius.

SETTING: The location of my book mainly takes place in The Overlook hotel in October during the 1980's. Currently jack Torrance is fixing the shingles on top of the roof which is where the setting is right now. I can tell that the setting will mostly be at the overlook hotel because During December - February the roads get 10+ plus feet of snow so they're not going anywhere.
