I can literally see RF Kuang’s Yale PhD as I read this 😭 I’m nowhere near smart enough to appreciate her intelligence as fully as I should.

I’m slowly but surely making my way through this 🫩

Please can we get to the plot.

I don’t need to be told what brand of toothpaste Robin uses or learn about the etymology of ‘knee’ or read another paragraph about how evil the British are or the beauty of languages or how to say humus in Ancient Caribbean.

I get the book is centred around languages but I’m trying to read a historical fantasy, not my Latin textbook.

Tried to look up a character and I found a summary of the whole book with spoilers 😭✋

Downloaded it onto my kindle from some sketchy website, so the sentences are broken apart really weirdly, but that’s about the only issue I have with this so far. 😔

Should have probably chosen a shorter book looking at my reading goal but it’s too late to go back 🥲
