This guy writes like he doesn't ever leave his very limited academia bubble, which is not ideal for a book that deals with broader cultural shifts. Also much of the introduction is XKCD 2501 (Average Familiarity) where he spouts off names of various literary critics to say he agrees or their work applies to something, without stopping to give even the slightest overview as to what they said. Also nonsense charts.
