I’m not sure why the poem about Rebecca Lee Crumpler is in third person when all the others are in first, or why it feels so critical about her being the first in something as if the other women weren’t as good. I can’t decide if this feels like a criticism of the culture that held and holds women back, or a minimizing of this woman’s accomplishments.
