He smiled. "I'm sorry for how weird I've been lately."
"How weird you've been?" I said from his lap. "Jorgen, I'm the one with a delver piggy backing my soul."
"Yeah, but that sort of thing is expected of you."
(perfect example of spensa and jorgen’s dynamic i fear)

in the conference this morning the guy kept switching between english and italian mid sentence and I was lowkey getting whiplash but ironically I understood everything he was saying language wise but scientifically I was LOST bc he was a mineralogist and my geochemist ass is absolutely not. my kell however IS a mineralogist and so I will make it HIS PROBLEM when he wakes up and will pester him with mineral questions

it's all in first person (which always jumpscares me in a book) and I feel like in terms of how young/mature it reads its closer to a violet sorrengail maturity than an emily wilde maturity (jsut using these examples bc ik theyre both first person and you've read both ahah).
I really would recommend this series though!! there are some really nice friendships and I love love the lore and the world building (very brandon) (oh wait now I think about it its probably similar in 'maturity' to tress of the emerald sea). anyway im yapping!! but I love this series despite it being YA and there are a certain group of characters I think you'd LOVE that I cant expand on for spoiler reasons :)
