I'm assuming the story will kick in soon. We have a bit of foreshadowing for future books but this book really is DCC Book 1.5. I'm so torn. I love the characters, the setpieces, the violence and the humour but the story is still nothing really more than 'we need to get to the final level' There's minimal meat added to that premise.

I'm still enjoying this but it really does need to do something to add some story. It's holding my attention and I'm just about to start an intriguing new sidequest to track down who is killing prostitutes. There's a lot to like here (if you ignore the whiff of misogyny) but I hope things pick up soon. I have the other six books ready to go. 😆

Still finding Book 2 more of the same. It's an enjoyable read but light on story. The characterisations are great as are the setpieces but the main story hasn't really developed as yet. Seems it's a case of getting to the last level. I'm sure things will be shaken up soon enough. I hope so, I have a pile of DCC books in front me. 😆
