After the first couple of chapters, I was conflicted about this book. Since then, I have been addicted to it. So far, I have enjoyed more than the first acotar. Great characters, and the book isn't treating me like im stupid. Lots of great subtle world building for a world that is incredibly dense in lore. A very interesting balance of a straightforward plot nested in a world of unfathomable amounts of history.

I adore the direction this book is taking. I was expecting something similar to Acotar for this series, but it couldn't be further from it. Genuinely impressed by the range Maas has. I am also entranced by the way she writes scene descriptions without directly talking about them. I get such a visceral image in my mind. Great diologue, too very excited to see the direction next.

Love the blend in the book of modern settings with fantasy world mechanics and society. I am very pleased with the direction of this book. The author also seems to have a preference for the male leads in her books, lol.
