Everything that just happened upon the Marietta and Vivacia had me more enthralled than a book has made me in a long time. I was THERE the entire time. Unbelievable writing. Heart is aching.

Wintrow coming into his Captain Era.

Kennit is a true “anti-hero”. He is a genuinely bad guy, who does bad things and thinks bad thoughts. He is selfish and abhorrent - but due to Hobb’s ability to make me see into his mind, what he thinks and feels on an emotional level, it allows me to also somehow root for him. Nothing is as cool as him coming into his element as captain at the helm with Etta. SO COOL!

I’ve only just realised that the Serpents call the different ships “Providers”. Are they perhaps searching for a live ship to follow? Considering how much it’s effecting Vivacia - perhaps it’s their strange poisons they share together for the visions?

This genuinely is SO heart wrenching. I fear the end of this book.

This genuinely might be the most evocative and vivid description I’ve ever read. My heart is in my throat whilst I’m reading it. Great stuff.

Sorry, I know he’s realistically not a nice guy at all, but Kennit is fucking hilarious at times.

Firstly, Brashen, I’d hoped you knew that No means No.
Secondly, if someone says No, you do not then insult their appearance or hygiene just to make yourself feel a bit better. It’s lame.
Thirdly, you deserve the rain and the mud for being less than honourable. Hope you have some sense knocked into you because I really want to like your character.

Etta is going to be such a great character I can already tell. Also, it appears Kennit’s luck may have just run out.
