“Super Mario Kart” and “Bonneville Salt Flats” have been some of my favorite essays so far. I really loved the way they subtly explored structural inequities alongside the quieter, more personal challenges of growth and identity. Using the power-ups to explain how race, gender, and education shape opportunity was incredibly effective.
