Not sure whether this will be worth persisting with... I usually avoid this kind of thing.

Reading this as part of a group read. I'm cautious. Is this another overhyped thriller/mystery? Let's see....

Lisa - *OwlBeSatReading* Here, let me loan you my barge pole, Liz, so you can proverbially not touch it anymore 😆 I always avoid these types of books too, often it’s a case of ‘you’ve read one, you’ve read them all!’

Thanks, Lisa. I think I'm going to need that barge pole. There are so many wonderful books out there that I would really prefer to read, that I may just ditch this one. I borrowed it from the library so no cash wasted, just time.

Yep, there’s a huge difference between simply reading a book and appreciating literature, (unless it’s by Bob Mortimer 😂) I steer clear of what I call supermarket fiction. I sound like such a snob actually, but I’m sure you know what I mean.

I'm the same, and fear that I'm a bit of a book snob too... I try to stay open-minded as some popular page-turners are wonderful (I'm thinking of the best of Steven King), while some literary fiction can be a snooze-fest (I'm thinking of The Scarlet Letter),
