I'm a big fan of the fact that being called "Hamlett" is earned out of respect for being a legacy but Hamlett refers to Horatio by last name as well. Whether its because he is used to everyone doing it for him or because he also sees Horatio as an equal in magical prowess is up for debate but its a really neat detail.

Every dark academia novel has to have the self-imposed outsider who has a "legitimate" reason for outcasting themselves despite the group they are connected with knowing this reason already and not caring.
