I have to keep checking this is not Young Adult? Apart from some swearing and nods to more adult themes, this reads like a Teen/Young book (nothing wrong with Teen/YA but that semi-there tone is very jarring and means things seem very....surface level?).

I have a real issue with how heavy handed this is 😅 I really think it would have worked better as a kid’s story, esp with the protagonist who seems like she’s come from a 8-12 book about magic libraries.
