This book is doing a crazy job of keeping me RIGHT on the line between kinda interested and actually invested. Just nonstop: “huh, ok, that’s kinda neat, I guess I’d like to see where that’s going” but not actually locking in.

Ok I like this,,, but I feel like this whole knight arrangement makes literally no sense and it’s challenging my suspension of disbelief lol. “Hey enemies, yeah you can come into our country, but only if we appoint you to super important positions protecting us and also you won’t get any training to do it” ???
