yea shit wait a minute-i know ptsd wasn't a "thing" back in the day, but civilians going into an active warzone oof it's incredible that some of them even did more than one trip to dunkirk tbh

I always love stories of ordinary people showing up to help. But imagine being like a banker who got volunteered into sailing into an open warzone on a rescue mission and that’s ur first time sailing?!?! It’s just so crazy

i get that france's ships weren't like just sitting in a harbor BUT how could u blame the british for prioritizing getting their own men home on their own ships more than french soldiers on english ships :/

1 don’t call them rabble :( didn’t they read Tolkien?
2 the fact that every estimate of how many men need to be evacuated is always insanely low is wild. Like every single time they’re like “we need to save these 1000 men-wait 5000-wait 25,000?”

Imagine if the Nazi generals got their way. This book would have a very different title. The situation already sounds like less than half a snowball’s chance in hell and I’m sure it will get worse
