Wondering how someone who just witnessed a murder and kidnapping isn’t at least disturbed :/ it doesn’t read well for the main character’s sense of empathy.
Her partner has monologued like six times since his introduction and I still have no idea what his personality consists of. They just met, and neither one has asked anything substantial about the other.
There is a clear lack of proofreading :/

This is pretty bad. All the characters are the same two people.

“Judge Corwin, a man directly responsible for the first executions. But—“
“‘Don’t ‘judge’ him too harshly,’ Zach said sarcastically. ‘He was a product of his time.’”
These are federal agents working on a murder and serial kidnapping case there is NO WAY they would be making jokes.
The way the story doesn’t take itself seriously makes it hard to read.

I don’t love the author’s voice…the imagery is lacking, the dialogue is immature, and doesn’t give the characters distinct manners of speaking. Holding out hope that it gets better.
