Part two starts with Jake and what happened to him. The reader finds this so fascinating; Jake is such an interesting character. He’s torn between two selves and we see how it happened, we just don’t know why yet, and we’re so curious to see what it leads to and how it fits into the bigger picture with Roland and company. Again, some very fast paced storytelling.

We get more from Jake and he’s still torn between the real world, where he’s missed a bunch of school work and the fantasy world, where he’s been writing all this down. Not really sure the relevance with Charlie the Choo Choo is, we probably won’t ever know. It’s kinda reads as a metaphor, but for what we’re not sure just yet.

We’ve come to the end of part one of book one… not sure what’s happening or what’s going to happen, but excited to find out. This is still reading fast-paced, even though we want to read it slow to figure out what everything means. Everything is happening so fast it gets lost in the shuffle a bit. Excited for Jake to possibly make an appearance.

Roland’s confused… this reader is confused. They’re trying to read this slow so they don’t miss anything, but we’ve already got time travel and rehashing the right time for things. Roland is trying to explain everything to Eddie and Susannah but they don’t quite grasp it either. This is fast-paced and intriguing so far, but also confusing.

The 3rd book in the Dark Tower series and we’re off to a pretty interesting start. Roland, Eddie and Susannah are together and they’ve just been attacked by what appears to be a robot bear. The quest is to reach the Dark Tower and we’re very curious how this is going to be achieved. This is a reread for this reader, but a refresher is much needed.
