The oddly random takeoff of the book develops the idea that Annabelle just cracked. I really like how Calletti shows this with the randomness, the fact that Annabelle didn't plan anything at all and I really like how she keeps making references to Annabelle's place in the world as a woman. Also, I feel like I can really relate to Annabelle, with the way she just cracked and the way she describes cross country and run
