I am devastated by "A homosexual like Henry. A criminal." vs "I do not know. I never touched him. I do not know why I was chosen." I am absolutely wrecked over how painful this existence would be.

Gave him all that for a whole load of nothing. I guess the rich are easy to scam out of replenishable resources.

Maybe I am reading too deep into things but you could not convince me at this point that "The Monster" does not represent Victor's homosexuality. He is running from his own identity, tied permanently to the manifestation of his "sin". Also he like killed a guy or whatever, that's besides the point.

Oh the idea of reanimation as a punishment for being queer is deliciously painful, especially with the context of the time period.

Of course the texts about human reanimation and experimentation are going to discuss humans as object or ingredient rather than a living being. What exactly did you expect????? The morality police does not hang out with the guys who experiment on people and strip them of their free will???

I love a good historical citation in my fictional adaptation to remind me of how the progress of science was at this point in time and how it would not have seemed THAT out of place for a man to attempt resurrection.
