Shane gets injured at a match and Ilya goes to check on him as the opposing team’s captain. Shane invites him to his cottage this summer. They see Scott Hunter kissing his boyfriend after winning the Stanley cup and Ilya agrees to go to the cabin. At the cabin, they just get to be a couple in private.

After both Shane and ILYA go to the All-Star game in Tampa and play to meet up on the beach when they get together, they admit to each other about their pass like why does Ilya wear a orthodox cross and how his mother is dead. Shane and Rose parted ways amicably.

The plot is progressed and the two are meeting in secret regularly. Shane begins to realize he prefers Ilya and he can’t get Ilya out of his mind. He realizes he prefers men to women, and it scares him a lot. Ilya asks him to stay, but he freaks out.

Shane wins the NHL award, and after the ceremony, finds Ilya on the rooftop, smoking. Ilya is sad about having to go back to Russia, but doesn't volunteer why. He kisses Shane, and it's a shock to his system. But they part ways

At the All-Star playoffs, they see each other on the ice and Ilya gives Shane his room number. They meet that night and Shane has his first time with a man. ILYA offers to come to his apartments in Montreal Shane sneaks out.

In a pre-season game, Shane and Ilya have a commercial shoot, and afterwards, they are in the communal showers, and Shane's erection gives him away, & Ilya openly flirts with him. He gets Shane's room number. They have sexy time, which is Shane's first time with a guy.

Three months after the draft, the Olympics happen. Ilya plays for Russia and Shane for Canada and Canada beat them. Ilya tries not to think about Shane or the shame of going home 2nd place and having to hear it from his Dad.
