I’m sorry if this is a very odd/sad question but is there any like good books (preferably comics because I ain’t picking up a novel for shit) -where the main lead self harms? I ain’t asking for much. And a realistically sad ending I don’t need any more “it gets better” hope shit. Genuinely. Just a downer ending!

Halfway There by Christine Mari has self harm in it. She’s not perfectly cured by the end, though there are glimmers of hope and she’s not at the darkest point. I’m trying to think of other examples. It seems more common than it gets depicted, and it’s often glossed over if it is mentioned. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Alright. Thanks Stella, I’ll check out Halfway There if I can find it on libby or somewhere else. And yeah. People genuinely go through hell but noooo! More authors are more content making the same Queer YA novel 1000x with white leads!!! Literally no one’s interested in making anything with bipolar. Or any Salvadoran lead either!!!! Not even a mention of the food pupusas. As for heartstopper I read it, the way it’s represented just irritated me especially the fact of Charlie going to the damn hospital and somehow thinking it’s “helpful” that type of praise for medical crap makes me wanna tear my hair out hahah. “Oh look it works! Yay I’m cured! Yay! No shame about! I’m not ashamed!” God it makes me sick. But alas no one wants the story of someone actually dying from their own hands. They all want hope. And I’m sick of that shit.
An interesting book on being bipolar I've read is Marbles by Ellen Forney. I'm going to look into Salvadoran graphic novels. But maybe, I don't know...There's a book that still needs written. Toni Morrison said, “If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.”
*Reply to Stella* alright since naturally nothing was on Libby even though they have tons and tons of good books I downloaded both Marbles and Halfway There, Naturally. Tell me if you do ever find a good Salvadoran comic or any good comic you recommend for that matter. I’m always taking recommendations anyways! I care for what you have to say even if it’s just literature. But no seriously? Thank you! Even just one of my friends on here (which I have zero idea why you started to follow me anyways or anyone for that matter) actually seeing at least some of my status updates means something. So thanks! Genuinely.
