Just remembered that Disney made Esmeralda marry Phoebus 🤮☠️

The plot of this makes me so mad that I want to rant to somebody about it but then again I don't even want to talk about it. Sometimes I feel like I'm reading a greek tragedy, but make it longer. Everything is just so shitty and sad.
As if I needed a reminder that most humans are inherently sadistic and it is only through education and modern social construcs that this tendency can be tamed (most of the time)

Just read the chapter "The Story of a Wheaten Cake" ...
I was on the bus and had to take a break and close my eyes as not to let tears fall. The story of Paquette, her little baby girl and 4yo Quasimodo is devastating and I know the next chapters will be just the same :(
Also the amount of disgusting racism, sexism and all kinds of other -isms and phobia is overwhelming.

I love how the clergy is trembling from fear of the printing press. Oh no! Our mindfuckery of the population is going to end!

I wonder if this is the main theme of this novel. I still haven't grasped it fully.

My pet peeve is that I dislike detailed descriptions of buildings or rooms in a story, just say "it was luxurious room full of antique gilded furniture" thats all I need and I generate a room in my head. I dont need more really...

Men do anything but think rational when it come to their ego. Esmeralda should've let them hang Gringoire. Now he thinks he can act like her husband?! He does nor only have no money but als no shame and no brains, only his male ego. As if such a woman would delightfully take you! You loser!
