I moved forward to take them and he caught the back of my neck, pulling me into a tight hug. My gaze caught on Caleb and Seth standing further off in the trees, watching us with anxious expressions.
"Don't ever let her go again, Darius Acrux." I growled in his ear. "Don't you hurt her or let her down or make her cry…

“Tor?" I called, my voice quavering. Please be okay.
"Darcy?" she called back, hope filling her voice and tears rushed down my cheeks.
"I'm here with Gabriel." I pressed my forehead to the door, letting the tears run, not bothering to even try and hold them back. "Can we come in?"
"Yes," she croaked.

Her fingers stroked through my hair and there was this beautiful feeling of contentment that came from her which helped to ease the ache in my soul…it was the sliver of light I'd been aching for, calling me home.

Everything just felt better when I was with her. She could fight away the worst demons in my mind and keep them at bay if only she'd stay here.

I laid my head against her chest where the solid thump of her heart beat beneath my ear and her presence eased the pain in my soul unlike anything else could have.

"I came to enquire about you.”
I stilled, a lump forming in my throat as I took that in.

"Don't do that tonight, Maxy boy," she breathed. "Just let me hold you close and we can pretend the rest of the world isn't out there.”
I swallowed thickly, nodding as she wrapped her hands around my waist and gently pushed me back until I was sinking down onto the bed.

“Okay," I agreed on a breath and Max took my hands in his.
Well figure this out, okay little Vega?" he murmured catching my gaze with his deep brown eyes and for some reason, I really did trust him.

"Sure," Caleb agreed, blowing out a laugh as he glanced at Seth then looked to me quickly. "Not by the Masters chick anyway.”
Seth smirked at him and Max groaned loudly. "Stop flirting, you two, you're just making me feel worse about my shit.
"Flirting?" I balked, glancing at Seth as he shrugged innocently.

I landed in strong arms and my heart leapt as I found myself held against my Maxy Boy as Seth ran beneath us.
“I've got you, Gerry!" he purred in my ear.
"Oh you cunning cuttlefish," I cooed, relaxing back into him.
He chuckled behind me as he held me close and despite the fact that he was an Heir and a scoundrel, I found myself smiling.

I walked over and hugged Darius, thinking of Tory with everything inside me just hurting. It wasn't only him I was letting down, it was her. I just wished I knew what to do. Seth joined our hug, nuzzling into Darius and whimpering softly. "We'll figure it out," he said, and I wanted to believe that. I just didn't know what I was doing wrong so l could fix it.

"You're not a professor anymore," Seth pointed out super unhelpfully and Orion growled dangerously.
He knows about dark magic though, idiot." I shoved Seth in the forehead and he grinned at me, looking like he was about to jump up and start a play fight. "Stay," I mocked him like he was a dog, pointing a finger at him and he nipped the end of it with a smirk.
