I will not read a m/f romance ever again. The gender dynamics get so fucking boring. Women can’t function without men. I’m only finishing it out of spite because my bets are Kier dies, Grey repeats how she can’t live without him about 70 more times, and WOW she’s pregnant with his baby because they mentioned contraceptives during their sex scene

Her obliviousness is infuriating

Bovalino did a pretty effective SA allegory without it actually needing to be SA, which is honestly refreshing in a genre that seems to thrive off of stripping women’s autonomy away through violent SA acts. I don’t read much romance, but i do read fantasy and there are always other avenues to take away autonomy for a scary moment. Bovalino continues to pleasantly surprise me.
