I'd like to see some of these mysterious friends and helpers of Lupin. Get some idea of their characterization and skillsets and limitations, like the grandson's gang does. As it stands, they feel a little too much like a Deus Ex Machina.

I liked this second story a lot better. The first was a fairly straightforward mystery that didn't give nearly enough to allow the reader to even try figuring it out, just the one red herring. But this one has an actual scheme in it and we're getting to stealing stuff.

Still couldn't figure it out ourselves, but at least it's a far crazier bit of events.

I saw the twist coming, but I don't know if it's because I know how stories work or because of this specific story's flaws. I do know that the red herring - the first letter of his name - turning out to be a total lie didn't feel quite satisfactory.

Could've been the woman, too. I know enough of the character to know that wouldn't be it, but it'd have been a nicer twist. His grandson could've pulled it off...
