He is worse than the first. Why is she giving in? I don’t understand.

I was glad for Jane too to discover she had family. But what is going on with the cousin.

Also want to add that I was impressed by the protagonist’s ability to resist her temptation and really did cut that man out of her life. “Yes; I feel now that I was right when I adhere to principle and law, and scorned and crushed the insane promptings of a frenzied moment” (414).

They really don’t get to the point. And really like to go on about whether someone is ugly or not.

Jane panics a bit at the thought of her new name. This chapter feels symbolic as the title is “Jane Erye”. She is realistic to warn Mr Rochester that the adornments will only make her further from herself. Maybe a premonition of how infatuation blinds the truth. Mrs Fairfax’s gut also feels this. Young Adele even shoots down Mr Rochester’s imprisoning or romanic allegory of the matrimony.

Not sure what to make of his little disguise but it’s different.

Mr Rochester does seem interestingly particular but he is still annoying. Jane relating to Adele’s life was heart breaking. So Mr Rochester killed someone… ??maybe they’re not dead? It is becoming suspenseful after the fire incident.

A spooky scene and she’s bored and a man enters in a charming way… it’s getting predictable.

I was thinking about why more rich people wouldn’t contribute to Lowood and got to know Mr Brocklehurt better. Yuck! While he lectured about the lords suffering, I asked what are you wearing?? The hypocrisy entering with his wife and daughters made me cringe and I wondered if I can take the book seriously anymore. We shall see.
