In reading the authors note, I thought I’d be in the group who appreciated McCandless’s throwing off of societal norms and eschewing material and worldly possessions… but as soon as the story started I moved into the ‘he’s an arrogant unprepared man-child.’ No waterproof shoes?! No food?!? Not educating yourself and familiarizing yourself with the area?!?! Sad but seems like a foregone conclusion.
