Clara pushes Serene into the shower door. It splinters into a thousand tiny pieces. But Serene is not injured at all. Serene leaves and goes home.

In this timeline, Marcus is Abbe who is Clara and Dempsey's father. Clara and Dempsey is trying to stop Serene and Abbe from conceiving them according to Veronica in order to stop the abuses. Which in fact is stopping Serene from having sex with Marcus.

Kendrick adopted her and raised her. This is why they do not talk. Veronica wants a passport or something tangible to use against Serene to find out her true identity.
