If you’re at Waterloo right now, I’m sorry. You might be against this, but you really can skip to the end of that section and keep going lol. It is not essential to plot.
I made it through Waterloo lol. Just baffled at Hugo saying it was time to learn about Marius only to spend an entire book on someone else. Why my guy.
Wait till you get to the sewer systems of Paris. Real page turner there.
