Outside of the surely tragic plot, the characters, setting, background things are so familiar. Not just Arkansas but the queer side. I was in it and adjacent at that age, crushing but not understanding and hearing my gay friend's stories and thoughts

I'm currently living in my childhood home and this is stirring up a lot of nostalgia

I have found so few books about arkansas that really capture what it's like, what the people are like. In just the prolouge I can tell this is one. I'm so excited
