This is so good. Interesting premise like the futuristic and fun part of the dark forest and melancholic writing like amor towles. Incidentally, this is the third fiction about climate change I’ve read this year. 4th if you count east of Eden? 5th if you count my summer in the sierras? Both about the environment a little bit but pre/cusp of Industrial Revolution. Anyway. Loving the writing.

Holy hell that was so good. Way to make unlikeable characters nevertheless magnetic and impossible to not be drawn to and invested in. Like Lela or the Steinbeck characters in east of Eden. I think that’s what the r f kuang books lacked for me. Anyway Now I have to read the atonement and the rest of his books!!

What an interesting premise. It took me a while to orient myself temporally and I almost thought Ian mcewan was attempting a Murakami. Which I would’ve rioted.
