I hate to be obvious but the simple solution to the small town being overrun is for the Queen and Arcandor to not live there… it’s 100% their fault for the fame and tourism… they leave, so do the people.
You can’t hide from your role if it’s a public facing one like theirs…

Familiar and cozy. Adding snippets of this in where I can in my day reading off my phone. Not my preferred way to read but for a novel of this type and one I know the characters in it works.
