This book is pairing exceptionally well with the music of Robert Gromotka.

Lovely writing appearing throughout so far:

'I looked upon thate face I had known so well and now that for the first time I saw its beauty as mortal I felt that I had never loved it so dearly.'

First chapter down and I feel very at ease with Jake (even taking into account his wastrel-like manner)

Not that far in and this book so far makes me feel that Toole's 'A Confederacy of Dunces' was aiming for this calibre of writing and characterisation. Really enjoying it.

Also oddly makes me think of Sir Digby Chicken Caesar owing something to the characters herein.
