Help me😭 Everyone seems to love this book, help me understand why? I am being told everything through inner dialogue. My head is exploding, there is so much love for this book, what I am not paying enough attention too?

Oh Annika please don't give up. Just give it more time. It needs buildup at the beginning but it is so angsty and heartbreaking and top notch writing. Please keep reading.

I read it 2 weeks ago... And I was feeling exactly same.
But the last 150 pages were boom boom f*cking boom!!
I honestly liked keeping 13 more...
& I am neck deep in love with Joe's books.
I don't love this book, I think it was like a 3 star read for me. If it's not for you, no shame in that! But I think the reason why people love it is the combo of a ton of trauma in Shannon's life, but her relationship with Johnny is warm and cozy. So that juxtaposition of "Plot trauma + cozy relationship" really hits, for a lot of people. It's a lot of that "hurt / comfort" trope, people eat it up

Never read it, but I’ve seen tons of reviews on my feed from readers who loved it. Hope it turns around for you. Then again, keep in mind there are over 20k two and one star reviews.
