So far all of the strangeness has seemed to pose no threat to our characters. Despite it, they all seem to go about their days as if everything is normal. Until now. The librarians were very genuinely scary. I could almost put myself in Diane’s place and imagine how afraid she was. This feels like the first real thing that’s happened in this book.

But so has Jackie, right? It said she had been the owner of the pawn shop for centuries maybe. Many, many questions.
