Took me exactly 2 minutes to research the author and understand this book is clearly a satire. People who gave this book 1 star without even reading it, and didn’t even do any research about it, are a part of the problem of why our society is collapsing. Anyways I am going to enjoy this because i can take a joke :)

I am going to assume this book is unserious considering the fact the author signed the introduction with his last name, which is Dick. I am doing this purely for entertainment and cuz i like laughing at myself.

My goal is to prove the author wrong and read this book from beginning to end and having fun so wish me luck lol

lola ୨ৎ omg really 😭 i thought this was acc hate towards women?

Samantha (matching w Tessie) Obviously it’s satire, but for people who’ve experienced actual sexism, the premise of this book can still feel incredibly problematic. I did research the book, and I’d be completely on board if it were genuinely critiquing double standards. From what I’ve seen, though, it doesn’t really self-critique its misogyny, and instead seems to validate sexist behavior rather than challenge it.

Imo, dismissing other people as just “not getting the joke” is the real problem here

✮mara☆ @Samantha I totally agree with Sam-- no matter of this book is a joke or satire or anything else, it doesn't make it okay. The ideas in this book (which i looked into btw) are harmful and are used as justification by people who don't see this as satire. So... maybe I'm not getting the joke or maybe it just isnt funny

Rotem⭐️ I was sexually harassed multiple times. But I know when to separate my own opinions with humour or comedy. So far, he didn’t say anything that crossed the line (which exists also in comedy).

I never criticised people for not getting the joke, I criticised them for giving the book 1 star without reading it and not even doing research about the author or the book. Though the amount of absurdism and hyperbole in the book makes it obvious that it’s unserious (if they bothered to even open the book).

I don’t even look at this book as social critique or commentary. I am simply laughing at how absurd it is. Because a comedic book that knows it’s stupid is funny.

Rotem⭐️ Lola nope. The author plays a character, of this very extra, ridiculous “alpha male” type of guy. He is a comedian. So the book is really just a joke lol. So far I think it’s extremely stupid but funny

✮mara☆ @Rotem

Honestly, I respect you having your own opinions. We disagree but like... that's fine. We chill. I'm glad you feel like you're rubbing it in his face/enjoying it anyway. Sorry I commented very forcefully--I'm just like that sometimes😬... mb enjoy ur reading

Samantha (matching w Tessie) Ditto with @Mara :)

Look, I know you didn't ask for a debate, so my bad for jumping in. But when you said you’re going to enjoy it because you can take a joke, it just rubbed me the wrong way. I get that the book is completely absurd, but to me, that kind of extreme humor just excuses actual misogyny. It makes it way too easy for people to say hateful things and then just yell 'it's satire!' when people get mad. So basically, I disagree with the fact that this book is just humor without consequence. But let me know what you think :)

✮mara☆ yeah, what sam said

Rotem⭐️ No i get it it’s valid! I respect you guys’ opinion❤️ Personally I just don’t mind this, I believe there is a place for any type of satire in literature as long as it doesn’t cross a line (which again if this book will I would stop reading it, but so fat it’s just basic stupid jokes lol). I am really just criticising people who gave the book 1 star, without reading it, taking the book seriously but then not even doing research to understand it is not actually serious, because I feel like this just adds to the spread of misinformation and strengthens cancel culture which I do not like.

I am truly reading this out of curiosity, because so many people seem to hate it. I might not even finish it as I am not the biggest non fic person but si just wanna try it out hahah
