None of these characters were enjoyable and I had not enjoyed the writing once until I came across delightful chapter 8.

Might DNF this one, not a fan of the writing. I don't like how the MC is overdefining her blackness and overexplaining vernacular (esp if the target book audience is black YAs), and her parents allow her to have sex in the house but don't allow her to speak ebonics. Priorities. And why does her bf judge her for code switching if her mom makes her speak that way? I don't get it. 🤷🏾‍♀️
