Former family crisis intern here that worked with abuse cases: I don't think Monoghan intended for Stewart to look like a child predator, but asking a 13 year old kid for their number and then texting the kid without the parent in the chat is grooming, no matter the context of the messages. Big red flag for me and now it's on my radar. I know it's only a small part in the book and I hope it was removed for pub day.
