I'm loving my deep dive into audiobooks begun last fall, and it's perfect for Vanity Fair, but I blew it listening to the bulk of George Saunders' Vigil. It overwhelms the extraordinary use of the language.
Also, I HATE the big cast, essentially turning it into a play. (Might have double-posted.)

Top peeve for recorded books is when there are multiple narrators and/or production elements like music. I don’t want an audible play, I want a book read to me while I do about my day. Next most hated is narrators who shout the dialogue. Hey, I’m wearing earbuds and you just pierced my eardrums!
