Laurent knew Damen was Damianos all along and has struck a cold deal with him.

Laurent couldnt meet up with Damen to fight the Regent’s because he was held captive by Govart and Guion. Despite all odds he was able to escape and turn the table on his captors.

Damianos took in the Akelios army and took hold of the Ravanel fort that was once held by his Veretian battle brothers. He was able to convince Jord and 20 other Veretians to join his new army and ride out to challenge the Regent and aid Laurent.
