Am I supposed to root for the 'yearning' relationship of the main characters here? Aoyama is insufferable, ignorant, and whiny girlchild, and not to mention the hard-to-ignore fact that she views Taiwanese cultures through her disgustingly arrogant colonist's mindset. Her gluttony for food is so repulsively overplayed. I do wonder what the direction the book's going for though.
