Not unique enough. I understand what it was trying to do. I do get it was a retelling of the Scarlett Letter but between that and the Handmaid’s tale, it’s all been done before. I did think the middle part with the resistance was fascinating. I wish we had more information on how the chrome part actually worked. It’s what sets this book apart. I didn’t love this. Centers the man and he’s supposed to be this amazing holy guy. Like what? The main character does not have much personality and is just there. Maybe I expected too much but this disappointed me. They also didn’t actually explain the so called fertility crisis. There is not enough set up. The book overall was quick and easy to follow. The ending was also just meh
